How do I share SMART Notebook files with students?
There are two ways to share. You can either give students your SMART Notebook file - OR - a PDF version of your presentation. The file type you select depends on what you ultimately want students to be able to do with the file.

**Attachments are intact, but students must "force a file extension" to open
|
SMART Notebook ExpressStudents can open SMART Notebook files with SMART Notebook Express. This is a free and more basic version of SMART Notebook. Students can create their own presentations and open ones you share.
Once you have your SMART Notebook file posted (on your website, Moodle, Edmodo, etc), students must complete the following steps to open the file: 1. Save the file to their computer 2. Open SMART Notebook Express (Start > All Programs > SMART Notebook Express > SMART Notebook Express) 3. When it opens, go to File > Open > find the file they just saved to their computer > OK To make this process quicker - have students create a shortcut to SMART Notebook Express on their desktop. |
Adobe Reader will automatically open and display the PDF when students click on the file to open it. See how to save your Notebook file as a PDF.
**If you would like to students to be able to take digital notes on the PDF, be sure to complete STEP 3 before posting for students. |
